Job description

We are looking for a Technical Artist to help us create high-quality materials and technical art solutions for Frostpunk 1886. You will work closely with artists and programmers, build shaders and tools in UE5, and help keep assets optimized and production-ready.


Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality materials and shaders in UE5.

  • Build and maintain Blueprint- and code-based tools for the art team.

  • Create and update documentation for tools, workflows, and engine limitations.

  • Help with optimization, profiling, and debugging in the final product.

  • Work with Art Leads, Technical Directors, programmers, and QA to make sure assets meet technical requirements.

Job requirements

  • Good knowledge of UE materials and shading workflows.

  • Solid understanding of the UE5 rendering pipeline, including PBR and post-processing.

  • Experience with UE Blueprints for tools or gameplay-supporting systems.

  • Practical approach to problem-solving and a good understanding of optimization.

Nice to have

  • At least one shipped title or completed commercial project.

  • Knowledge of VFX or lighting.

  • Experience with procedural workflows (e.g. Substance Designer or other node-based tools).

  • Familiarity with shader languages such as HLSL or GLSL.

  • Background in 3D software such as Blender, 3ds Max, or Maya.

  • Experience working closely with both artists and programmers.
